“Flag of July August will be hoisted on every house in Gopalganj. We will not allow any space of this land to anyone who believe in ideals of Mujib”, threatened Nahid Islam convener of Yunus sponsored NCP on a public Facebook post. This direct call for violence reenforces the fascist cult of fanatic NCP leaders who seek to take absolute control over the public sphere and the private sphere of society with fear, displaying their zero tolerance to any dissenting views. This veiled threat constitutes effort to wipe out the ideals of country’s liberation war under pretext of erasing country’s founding father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, echoing the anti democratic demand of Islamists and militant outfits who opposed to the country’s founding ethos of pluralism.
With this public threat Nahid seeks to hide outright public rejection in Gopalganj, escalate and legitimize the massacre targeting citizens in Gopalganj inflicted by state apparatus led by military and Islamists upon authorization form Yunus regime.
