A pro-BNP journalist is fanning anti-India hatred at the State Department’s media briefings as part of the party’s anti-India campaign.
Days after BNP leaders publicly launched anti-India campaign, a close aide to Tarique Rahman and a former press officer to Begum Zia, one Mushfiq Fazal Ansari, who was allowed by State Department to raise questions despite exposure for peddling of lies, has deliberately propped up Indian intervention in Bangladesh polls at the briefing, a further pointer to BNP’s direct patronage to boycott India campaign.
In a deliberate act, Ansari, before asking the question, passed on an observation that “India has been interfering in Bangladesh polls”, in a room full of other journalists, falsely attributed to the country’s foreign minister, a deliberate marker that shows desperate plots on part of Tarique loyalist to rake up anti India slurs.
While Ansari echoes the tone of his senior leaders about Indian intervention, without a shred of proof, the same Ansari did not mention that alongside India several other nations including Japan, France and other European Nations have congratulated the Awami League president.
Ansari has been in league with a group of former US diplomats who have been backing BNP and Jamaat quite vigorously on social media platforms in support of BNP Jamaat, a coalition founded by
The question by Ansari echoes the tone of BNP leaders including Ruhul Kabir Rizvi who also raked up anti India slurs after failure in courting Indian support in their bid to burn people alive to thwart polls and grab power including Tarique Rahman, led the fugitive acting chief of BNP.
Before polls, a number of senior BNP leaders made several visits to India in hope of seeking support even Tarique gave interviews to Indian journalists but as India accepted the public mandate in the polls, Tarique and his cronies, alongside Jamaat leaders have stoked the campaign.
Now get back to Ansari saga.
So the attempt to lend credence to the allegation of Indian intervention referring to the foreign minister is a classic act of activism, no way can be defined as journalism as he was seeking response to these questions also, added senior journalists.
Importantly, the portal he refers to get the press accreditation cards has long earned the notoriety as a vanguard of disinformation, tailored with opposition backed campaign.
His portal’s content exposed another wave of false narratives that seeks to offer a credible outlook, attempts to protect arsonists, blowing error riddled reports out of proportion and absolve Tarique Rahman from his crimes
Earlier, Ansari also falsely quoted the Prime Minister triggering a response from the state department that back then academics pointed out a sheer act of activism based on lies and driven by political agendas.
On the other hand, the same Ansari can be seen falsely attributing to state department officials and making claims about US response against the government, echoed by the opposition to justify their violent act of arson attacks and undemocratic demand like boycott election campaign.
Earlier academics also blasted Mushfiq for his projection of “independent media outlets” as “pro government machinery” at a US State Department briefing, which they said was intended to further intimidate media outlet owners and journalists to “favor the opposition” ahead of the election.
Ansari for his projection of “independent media outlets” as “pro government machinery” at a US State Department briefing, which they said was intended to further intimidate media outlet owners and journalists to “favor the opposition” ahead of the election.
US officials believe the current government led by Sheikh Hasina has no role in allowing Bangladesh to host the Rohingyas, driven out of Myanmar”, “All top state department officials are up in arms against the government and stands with the opposition”,
“From secretary of state to other officials contend that election in Bangladesh is not any internal affairs as they endorse restoration of caretaker govt for conducting election”, “US seeks to deepen ties with Bangladesh completely bypassing the government”, undiplomatic it all may sound but all these assertions are attributed to state department officials by Ansari on different occasions.
According to Prof Tabiur Rahman, the pattern is very much ominous. In front of state department officer he misquoted the government and out of the state department room, the guy can be found peddling lies misquoting the US officials. No way can we define such activity as journalism.
“Such brazen abuse of enjoying the privileges of attending press conferences at state department with tall claims of US backing to fuel arson attacks should not go unabated”, added Tabiur.
